If you are wondering about our company name and its origins we thought it would be appropriate to provide some background.
Coming up with a company name is always a challenge. With the need for a unique domain name, hopefully in the .COM family it has become increasingly challenging since there are so many “squatters” who register names and then try to gouge you when you want to buy one.
In our case we wanted to be “Triora” (more on why in a moment), however that domain was registered. After contacting the buyer and waiting several weeks we finally got an email that offered a starting price of $14,000 along with text assuring us that this was a very reasonable price considering websites like www.business.com have sold for untold millions…
Needless to say we weren’t as impressed as the seller and decided right then and there we were going to be TRIORA+something, maybe Triora Group? Yes, that’s what we’ll be.
So what’s with Triora?
First it’s not one of a collection of ancient Italian hill towns that grace the lovely Argentine valley in the region of Liguria, close to the French border. Though I’m sure that it’s a great place to visit, that’s just a coincidence. But if you are like me, you’ll find that if you Google “Triora”.
The breakdown of the name is TRI and ORA. A little Greek research will indicate that while not proper Greek the two words refer to “Third” and “Time”. If you are familiar with the ORAcle of Delphi you will recognize the three letters ORA since she was reportedly able to “see time in the future”. We are working on that in our top secret laboratories as well but can’t make any announcements at this time.
So what’s the 3rd time all about anyway?
Well we realized we were starting a third company (”a third time”) and since we have been associated with Oracle software for over 10 years (”ORA”) it seemed like a great moniker for us to use.
Of course cute company names don’t bring success. Hard work, integrity and getting results for clients does.
But is it a crime to have some fun along the way? Hope not because we’ve decided that there’s room for a little fun here and there.
And as they say, “that’s the rest of the story”.
But wait, now that we’ve found out we are naming ourselves after some quaint town in Italy we may have to plan a trip there someday. Stay tuned…
